To simply answer that question , Although, we've left the final decision to the consumer, What with the Apple I Phone 6 released a year before the advent of the Apple I Phone 6S one year later, and YES, they both look alike at first glance, with almost the same form factor and design specs , but with slight, if not medium improvements to functionality, design, hardware and operating system, resulting in a heavier and faster Apple I Phone 6S.

With the Apple I Phone 6S, Apple has simply brought to the table, improvements to the CAMERA (13mp), PROCESSING SPEED (A9 Processor), Video recording (4K with HDR ), RAM SPACE (2gb), Faster touch ID and the critically acclaimed 3D TOUCH,
We wont go into much detail , but these improvements speak for themselves.

The Camera on the Apple I Phone 6S has been beefed up to a teeming 12megapixel with 4K video recording and HDR ( High Dynamic Range), with faster image stabilisation, resulting in crispier, more detailed images with framerates running as smooth as ever.

The Apple I Phone 6S launched with Apple's Proprietory A9 processor, which boasts clockspeeds of up to 1.84ghz . Its a new innovation from Apple that allows you to bring up options by applying varying pressure to different parts of the screen of an apple device, triggering pop up options, quick launching of apps and other such stuff, and hereby enabling new user paradigms. This technology makes use of 3D sensors underneath the display that measure the length and force of pressure applied to the screen, interpreting it as pop-up or peek actions, that the user intends. This might take a little bit of getting used to but it sure holds a lot of promise for future userbility and user interaction.
In all. The Apple I Phone 6S is a more improved Smartphone. How improved it is, up to you to decide if you would be willing to shelve out a little more money to Upgrade to the Apple I Phone 6s . Or stick to the regular I Phone 6.
